There is a common belief that states “If you just work harder your results will be so much better”.
While plain hard work may sometimes be necessary, very often we may be vainly dedicated to a flawed strategy. Like the fly hopelessly banging against the window we very often are missing the awareness of another better way that could get us to our goal much faster with much less effort.
The concept of “You2” (you squared), as put forward by Price Pritchett in his book with that title, points a way to thinking differently when we come upon difficulty that we can’t seem to solve.
Our conventional conditioning suggests we should implement tactics that will yield incremental gains. We’ve been lead to believe that it is reasonable to try to get slow and steady progress over time or maybe long periods of plateau only briefly punctuated by small steps upward.
But You2 shatters this paradigm and turns it on it’s head.
The vast majority of the time what is holding us back is our own limiting beliefs - which we don’t even consciously know we have.
If we can manage to breakout of our own myopic perspective we can begin to see that it is indeed possible to make radical leaps in performance and outcomes that go far beyond the next logical step.
Instead of simple addition we are talking about exponential gains. Instead of a 5-10% increase it becomes conceivable to achieve jumps in the order to 200%, 300%, 500%, etc.
There is one successful method that was written about by Napoleon Hill in “Think and Grow Rich” and has been used by countless individuals to achieve incredible levels of accomplishment. It is one way to actually free ourselves from our own thinking traps, multiply our capabilities and compound our effectiveness to reach our highest goals.
It is called the Mastermind.
The method is simple. Form a group of people that are all focused on attaining the same goal. This could be something in either your personal or professional life.
Have each person agree to the mastermind principles of open and honest communication and dedication to mutual assistance. Then meet together with that group on a regular recurring basis - either in person or via online video conferencing.
The effect of working with a mastermind is like hooking up several individual batteries together - the available power increases dramatically.
One important thing to keep in mind as you work with any group of people is that you will succeed in direct proportion to how much you help others to succeed. The dominant thought going into forming a mastermind is not solely how much you can get out of it but equally much, if not more so, how much you can GIVE.
Givers gain. This is the how you can get out of your own way and begin to realize quantum leaps in your results.
